Elisabeth Alber

Elisabeth is Senior Researcher at the Institute for Comparative Federalism at Eurac Research (www.eurac.edu/sfere). She has taught and widely published on federalism and democracy (with focus on deliberative constitutionalism), institutional innovation and participatory democracy, comparative federalism and regionalism, intergovernmental relations and policy-making in federal and regional States (with focus on education, language, cross-border cooperation and financial relations). Since 2014, she also researches on federal discourses, decentralization and democratization in South-East Asia. Elisabeth holds a PhD in Comparative Politics from the University of Innsbruck in Austria, an Advanced Diploma in European Studies from the University of Turku in Finland and a degree in International Sciences and Diplomacy (with focus on Comparative Constitutional Law and Comparative Politics) from the University of Turin in Italy (B.A. and M.A.). She has been working and holding visiting positions in Finland, Germany, Belgium, the US and Spain. In Australia, she has been a visiting fellow at the John Curtin Institute for Public Policy at the Curtin University, the Center for Comparative Constitutional Studies at the Melbourne Law School, the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance at the University of Canberra and the Australian Centre for Federalism at the Australian National University.
